‘Foul ball hit me in the knee’ Kim Hae-Sung out of lineup… SD infield on edge

It’s news out of the blue.

Kim Ha-seong, 28, of the San Diego Padres, started at third base in the No. 7 spot in the lineup for the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. However, the injury struck midway through the game and he was replaced early.

It happened in the top of the second inning, down 0-1. With the bases loaded and no outs, Kim faced Jake Irvin. On a 1B0S count, he pulled hard on a 93.8-mph sinker that came in on the second pitch. However, the pitch hit Kim hard in the left knee.

Kim fell to the ground in great pain as soon as he was hit. He screamed and grabbed his knee in pain. Unable to get up on his own, he was eventually helped off the field by trainers, who could barely keep his left foot on the ground.

It’s especially unfortunate that the injury came at a time when his batting was on the rise. He was in the midst of a five-game hitting streak that began on Aug. 18 against the Kansas City Royals and ended the day before against Washington. In his last game, he even hit his fifth home run of the season off a fastball, a clear indication of his upward trend. But the injury was inevitable.안전놀이터

It’s bad news for the team. San Diego recently placed their best third baseman, Manny Machado, on the injured list (IL) with a fractured left palm bone. All-arounder Ha-Sung Kim has been filling in for him with his reliable defense, but he’s also suffered an injury that wouldn’t be out of place on the IL.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers suffered a 5-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning when their bullpen collapsed and gave up a five-run big inning to take a 5-6 lead. But a dramatic three-run blast by Lugned O’Dowd in the top of the ninth gave the Padres an 8-6 comeback win. They avenged the previous day’s loss to improve to 23-27 and remain in fourth place in the National League West.
