The SSG Landers capped off a three-game weekend series with a thrilling win in extra innings.
SSG improved to 59-1 with an 8-5 win in the 11th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Doosan Bears at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Sunday.
While starter Moon Seung-won struggled with four runs on seven hits and one walk in three innings, the bullpen followed with a scoreless relay of Lim Jun-seop (⅓ inning),바카라 Choi Min-joon (1⅔ innings), Lee I-ro (⅔ innings), Go Hyo-joon (1⅓ innings), and Noh Kyung-eun (1 inning).
Closer Seo Jin-yong, who came on in the bottom of the ninth inning to record his first blown save of the season after 51 games, was in trouble, but he pitched a scoreless 10th inning to secure the win.
The offense was highlighted by home runs from Choi Jung-jeong and Ha Jae-hoon. Choi and Ha made their presence felt at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBIs, and 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBIs, respectively. Choo Shin-soo and Park Sung-seong also contributed to the victory with 5-for-3, 4-for-3, and 1 RBI, respectively.
After the game, SSG head coach Kim Won-hyung said, “Jae-hoon Ha’s multi-hit performance, including his second straight home run and game-winning hit, was crucial to our victory.” “I’m also pleased with the overall batting performance, including the three hits from Choo Shin-soo and Park Sung-hyun, as well as Kim Sung-hyun’s final RBI single in the top of the 10th inning.
“The bullpen was also a big factor in the extra-inning win,” said Kim, “even though Seo Jin-yong got his first blown save of the season, he’s been doing a great job. He pitched two innings today and made a huge contribution to the win. He did a great job,” he encouraged Seo.
Coach Kim Won-hyung added, “The team continues to have a tough schedule, but the team stayed together as a unit and did their best to stay focused until the end, and we ended the week on a good note. I hope we can get a good rest tomorrow and play in good shape from Tuesday.” “Finally, we were able to achieve the winning series thanks to the fans who came and cheered enthusiastically over the weekend. Thank you very much.”
SSG will take a day off before returning to action on the 29th for a three-game midweek series against the Kiwoom Heroes at Incheon SSG Landers Field.
