Mitoma, Asia’s best wing forward… Will Son Heung-min return?

Reporter Lee Hyeong-joo = The record speaks.

Brighton & Hove Albion played against AFC Bournemouth in the 2022/23 season English Premier League (EPL) Round 22 held at The American Express Community Stadium in Brighton, East Sussex, South East England on the 5th (Korean time) 1- won with 0 Brighton won in two league games, while Bournemouth failed to win six league games in a row.

On this day, Japanese wing forward Kaoru Mitoma (25) led the team to another victory. In the 41st minute of the second half, he scored a header goal with exquisite positioning to make his team win 1-0.

Mitoma’s performance is truly at its peak. He scored 5 goals and 1 assist in the last 7 official games in England, which is considered the best stage in the world. According to the British media BBC on the 5th, coach Roberto De Gervi also praised Mitoma, saying, “Mitoma is a fantastic player and a player who cannot be removed.”  온라인바카라

Currently, the soccer player with the best form in Asia is Kim Min-jae (26) of SSC Napoli.

However, if the point of view is limited to the present and the position is limited to wing forward, Mito Mada is by far the best in Asia. This is also revealed in the index with Son Heung-min (league standard 4 goals and 3 assists), the biggest comparison target.

According to data based on the football statistics site ‘Understat’, Mitoma has the upper hand in most league indicators compared to Son Heung-min so far this season.

Mitoma has an edge over Son Heung-min in goals per 90 minutes (G90), build-up involvement per 90 minutes (xGBuildup90), play involvement per 90 minutes (xGChain90), and expected assists per 90 minutes (xA90). Of course, this season is limited.

The record that Son Heung-min has a numerical advantage is not a relatively important record. Son Heung-min has an advantage over Mitoma in expected goals per 90 (xG90), shots per 90 (Sh90), assists per 90 (A90), and passes resulting in shots per 90 (KP90). Of these, it is not a positive record except for the KP90 advantage.

Although Son Heung-min is ahead of Mitoma in terms of expected goals, he is one behind in the number of goals in the league, which means that his decision-making power is inferior to Mitoma only this season. The same goes for the A90 and xA90.

Son Heung-min is in a position where he has to regain the throne of the ‘current’ Asia’s best wing forward, which was his own seat. The performance against Manchester City on the 5th can be an important stage for this.
