Saudi Professional League (SPL) side Al Ahli officially announced the signing of Firmino on Friday (5 May), tweeting, “‘Bobby’ is here!”. Al Ahli and Firmino have signed a three-year contract until 2026, according to Fabrizio Romano, who is familiar with the European football transfer market.Firmino joined the English Premier League (EPL) in 2015 after moving to Liverpool. He was an all-round striker with excellent goalscoring and link-up ability. Liverpool’s attacking line consisted of Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah.

Together, they made history: they won the UEFA Champions League (UCL) for the first time in 14 years (2018-19) and were crowned EPL champions for the first time in 30 years (2019-20). Firmino has also been a revolutionary force in the game.

The ‘wife line’ that seemed to last forever is in the process of breaking up. Mane, who left for Bayern Munich last summer, organised a special time for Liverpool after last season’s league final. It was a farewell to the players who had dedicated themselves to the club. Liverpool players lined up on either side of the pitch to present Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with the Guard of Honour.

“When I first came here, it was hard to get used to everything,” Firmino said. It’s the same with every athlete,” Firmino said. “But I thank God. I’ve done everything here, I’ve achieved everything. I couldn’t do it without my teammates, my family, my manager,” he said.

“I’m very proud of all the history we’ve made together. Unfortunately, we didn’t win today. But my last home game was very emotional and I’m happy to have scored a goal. I’m very happy with this shirt and this club.”Firmino has left Liverpool. He was linked with a move to Barcelona, but instead joined Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli. Firmino will spend the twilight of his career in the Middle East.

In recent years, the Saudis have used their oil money to lure superstars from all over the world. Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nasr) has been joined by Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante (Al Ittihad). Carmelo Benzema and N’Golo Kante (Al Ittihad) have been joined by Carvão Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly (Al Hilal), while Edouard Mendy (Al Ahli) and Marcelo Brozovic (Al Nasr) have also made their Saudi debuts. With the addition of Firmino, the league has been upgraded to the next level.
