Incheon Go and Daejeon Go celebrated their advancement to the round of 16 with side-by-side cold games.
In the round of 32 of the 57th Presidential High School Baseball Tournament (co-hosted by the JoongAng Ilbo and the Korea Baseball Softball Association)온라인바카라 at Mokdong and Shinwol stadiums in Seoul on Wednesday, last year’s champion Daejeon defeated Cheongju by a score of 11-1 in the seventh inning, and Kim Taek-yeon’s Incheon Go won the eighth inning cold game against Chang’an Go by the same 11-1 score.
Incheon dominated Chang’an throughout the game. After taking a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning, Incheon scored two runs in the seventh inning without a hit due to four walks and a wild pitch. Then, in the top of the eighth inning, the offense scored six runs with two outs to complete the cold game. No. 4 center fielder Kim Hyun-jong had an RBI double and No. 6 Kim Ji-seok hit a game-ending three-run shot.
Incheon ace Kim Taek-yeon came on in the fifth inning and pitched three and two-thirds innings of seven-strikeout, no-hit ball to record his first win of the tournament.
In the other Daejeon/Chungcheong rivalry game, Daejeon Go and Cheongju were expected to have a fierce pitching battle, but surprisingly, Daejeon Go scored 11 runs on 14 hits in the first inning. Cheongju sidearm ace Park Ki-ho did not pitch.
Gyeongnam Go, which raised its stock by defeating the Golden Lion last year, made its first appearance in the national round of 16 in a long time with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over nemesis Masango in the first game. Chungam-go, led by Lee Young-bok, struggled against Jeonju, but took advantage of a pitching mishap by ace Son Hyun-ki in the ninth inning to score the winning run for a 4-3 victory.
