Spellman meeting Gobere, Wembanyama, Olinik, and Porzingis in Nongwol, “I’m so excited, I’ll enjoy it”

“I’m looking forward to it. I will not shy away from challenges.”

Omari Spellman of Anyang KGC will participate in the 2023 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Basketball World Cup held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia in August. He recently naturalized in Lebanon and qualified for the national team.

Lebanon has been using Arter Majok and Jonathan Allezzi as naturalized players. With the best guard in Asia, Wael Araj, he has risen to the top of the pure Asian powerhouse, excluding Australia and New Zealand, but he needed a stronger weapon in the Basketball World Cup. The right person was Spellman.

Lebanon, which will play with Spellman, was placed in Group H along with France, Canada and Latvia in the Basketball World Cup group draw. Although the joining of Joel Embiid seems unlikely, France, which is shining with a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is a strong contender for the championship. In addition, Canada has a lot of Shai Gilgeous Alexander and NBA leaguers and their origins. All of Latvia, the dark horse of Eastern Europe, is a tough opponent for Lebanon.

Spellman, who we met in Jamsil on the 1st, said, “I heard that we were placed in the same group as France, Canada and Latvia. It’s not an easy team and there are a lot of good players, especially NBA leaguers. However, if you do your best without giving up, there will be good results. I will work hard,” he said.ㅋㅋㅋ벳

In particular, Spellman will have to contend with NBA big men such as Rudy Gobert, Victor Wembanyama, Kelly Olynik and Kristaps Porzingis. As he also has an NBA career, it is expected to be a great pride fight.

“They’re all good players, so I’m looking forward to seeing how they play against them,” Spellman said. It’s a new challenge and I won’t avoid it. If you compete with a happy heart, the result will definitely be different from what you expected.”

He said, “I have no intention of meeting anyone. They are all good players and have a lot of matchup opponents. It will be a good experience for me and it will be a good opportunity again. I will work hard and enjoy it.”
